The now-defunct Bickford Flexitarian tried to sate carnivores, vegans, gluten-haters and everybody in between, but the new tenant in its corner spot at Harbord and Grace is offering up crowd-pleasers of a very different kind.
Bean and Baker is a quaint little malt shop straight out of the 50s (red and chrome everything, checkered floors, staff in little white hats – the works). A malt shop, for those readers who haven’t read old Archie comics, is an ice cream and pop bar.
The family-run shop does flavoured sodas, diner-style shakes, sweet baked treats and pot pies brought in fresh from Wiseys.
326 Harbord, at Grace, 416-536-7632, beanandbaker.com, @beanandbakermaltshop. See listing.
