Quick fix

Quick fix

Although the launch of the second Burrito Boyz at 218 Adelaide West is still a couple of weeks away, nearby Tequila Sun Rise (212 Adelaide West, at John, 416-593-6164) has gotten into the act with its One Minute Burrito ($6.99).

A typical Tex-Mex cantina, its welcome is warm and service quick, though more like five minutes than the advertised 60 seconds. The ground beef burrito, smaller at 11 ounces than the others we scrutinize, held together with a tassled toothpick and served in a styrofoam takeout container instead of wrapped in foil, comes packed with mince, plain rice, refried beans and salad strewn with shredded Jack and sour cream.

The Test Kitchen’s conclusion: okay, but as late-night street food, forget it. You’ll end up wearing your nosh before it reaches its intended destination.
