Rebozos goes to College

Long before Grand Electric and La Carnita, there was Rebozos. Problem was, the low-key taco joint was in the middle of nowhere. Well, Rogers Road and Dufferin.

Good news, taco cognoscenti: Rebozos (424 College, at Bathurst, 416-356-1840) has just opened a second outpost in the old Ngoma Lounge at College and Bathurst. Apparently, the short-lived Rebozos takeaway in the Latin American food court at 214 Augusta last summer was just a trial run.

“We’ve had the space on College for a while but it wasn’t ready to open,” says co-owner Indalecio Marroquin.

For the moment, the new Rebozos menu is virtually identical to the old, though Marroquin is planning on introducing his take on trendy fish tacos shortly. He’ll also be selling booze for the first time.

“Our liquor license was just approved so starting next weekend, we’ll be open late on Friday and Saturday nights.”

With Sneaky Dee’s across the street and Bistro 422 and Nirvana next door, he’d be a fool not to.

Tuesday to Saturday noon to 10 pm, Sunday noon to 8 pm. Closed Monday, holidays. Access: barrier-free, washrooms in basement.
