Son of Susur

Ever wanted to experience the food of celebrated chef Susur Lee but couldn’t afford the hefty pricetag? Here’s your chance to do Susur for a fraction of the cost when the Lee kitchen crew take part in Tasty Thursdays every Thursday from July 15th to 29th at City Hall.

The program – which runs till August 26th – also includes Kathmandu Kathmandu (517 Yonge, at Maitland, 416-924-5787, kathmandurestaurant.ca), the Real Jerk (709 Queen E, at Broadview, 416-463-6055, therealjerk.com) and, er, Vesta Lunch (474 Dupont, at Bathurst, 416-537-4318). Helmed by eldest son Levi Bent-Lee, Team Susur will be serving his awesome cheeseburger spring rolls with smoked chipotle mayo and signature Singaporean slaw for five bucks a pop.

You might have caught Bent-Lee dishing up the Susur classics at booths at both Luminato and Pride.

“Levi is becoming more involved in the business and is helping with the concept and management of the new spot,” says Lee publicist Aura Wallace.

After months of speculation, it was announced just last week that the name of this imminent flagship restaurant will be Lee Lounge (601 King W, at Portland, 416-603-2205, susur.com). Lee Lounge?!? Is this generic handle worthy of a chef named North America’s second-best by TV’s Top Chef Masters?

According to Wallace, Susur is reconsidering Lee Lounge. Let’s put on our collective thinking caps and see if we can come up with something a little punchier than Susur: the Sequel. Any suggestions?[rssbreak]
