Take a Field Trip to Bloorcourt

You can still find coffee, beer, and a killer patio in the hidden-away home of El Cafecito on Westmoreland – but if you’ve stopped in lately, you may have noticed some differences, including two new faces. Ian Cameron and Angela Brock, formerly of Merchants of Green Coffee, took over the airy coffee shop earlier this spring, giving it a makeover and a new name: Field Trip Cafe.

As you might expect, Green beans feature prominently, along with Velvet Sunrise drip and Propeller espresso. House baked goods are in the works, but there’s baked treats from Sliced available for the munching. For meals, there’s a daily lineup of sandwiches on organic Prairie Boy bread (Cameron says their smoky mushroom sammies with red pepper tapenade have been a surprise hit).

Because they’re fans of craft beer and craft roasts, they’ve also got Beau’s and Sawdust City on tap (with more to come, once a new row of taps is installed) and a dozen or so tall cans from the likes of Junction Brewing and Side Launch. All the better to enjoy on their spacious front patio, which stays open late into the evening Thursday to Saturday.
