Next door to a discount shoe store and just down the block from a Chinese grocery store where bok choy goes for 39 cents a pound, Michael and Guy Rubino's Strada 241 (241 Spadina, at Grange, 647-351-1200) launched softly this weekend.
The team responsible for Zoom, Luce and Rain return to their rustic Italian roots with an all-day cafe up front geared at the caffeine cognoscenti who pack the nearby Dark Horse and a soon-come pizzeria a la Bar Mozza out back. Expect lots of exposed brick, black ‘n' white period photography and the distinct lack of barn board. But don't ask when they're open.
"We don't know yet," says the server trying to figure out the cash register iPad POS system.
