A few doors down from Salvador Darling, M & B Yummy (1263 Queen West, at Brock, 416-516-2798), Toronto’s only exclusively vegetarian Ethiopian eatery, has also applied for a liquor licence. Better yet, the joint’s charming co-owner/chef, Zeni Ashine, has just given her extremely modest resto a much-needed makeover.
Gone are the fluorescent fixtures, the donut shop decor and incongruous posters of cheeseburgers. They’ve been replaced by deep burgundy walls, African-inspired wall hangings and dim atmospheric lighting that verges on romantic.
Ashine has also added a 100 per cent vegan (as long as you stay away from her irresistible pastries) all-day prix fixe $9.65 Sunday brunch.
