A new study has compiled the top most “magical” places in Canada for those looking to explore the most enchanting locations across the country.
Casino comparison site BonusFinder Canada created the ranking by scraping Tripadvisor for keywords linked with “magic” and collecting Instagram hashtags and average reviews for each wonder. The locations were then ranked out of 10 for most to least magical. All data was collected on Aug. 9.
Niagara Falls, Ont. came out on top as the most magical with a rating of 9.6 out of 10. The tourist attraction had 317,000 Instagram hashtags and more than 1,100 mentions of words associated with magic. The relatively low number of hashtags is because ‘Niagara Falls Canada’ was used rather than just ‘Niagara Falls,’ according to the report.
“Situated on the Niagara river, it is known for its mesmerizing display of roaring sound which can be heard from a distance, creating a hypnotic auditory experience,” a press release from BonusFinder Canada said.
The only other location in Ontario to make the top 10 list is Toronto Island claiming the sixth spot with a score of 8 out of 10.
The second most magical place in Canada, according to the study, is Lake Louise in Alberta with a rating of 9.4 out of 10.
BonusFinder said the glacial lake within Banff National Park was ranked second place because of its “dazzling turquoise blue waters set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains which evokes deep emotions and a sense of wonder to those who visit.”
Lake Louise had 323 mentions of words associated with magic and a whopping 1.1 million Instagram hashtags.
Another lake in Alberta rounded out the top three. Moraine Lake scored 8.8 out of 10 with 305,000 Instagram hashtags and 88 mentions of magic.
“The area around Moraine Lake offers a diverse range of landscapes, including forests, alpine meadows, and rocky slopes. This variety adds to the sense of magic as visitors can explore different natural environments in one place,” BonusFinder Canada said.
