ARCHIVE TATTOO STUDIO 1528 Dundas West, 647-342-8494, archivetattoo.com

The Brockton Village studio tattoo parlour run by artist David Glantz and his wife, Elyse, isn’t for everyone looking to get inked. Like if you’re drunk and think a dolphin would look super-cute on your hipbone, probably best to sober up or look elsewhere.

Archive is all custom, and the process starts when interested subjects email the studio details about the tattoo design and body placement they’re after. Those ideas are refined at an in-person consultation, and anywhere from a few months to a year later, depending on the size of the piece, you’ll have a bona fide work of art on your bod.

Glantz describes his style as a combination of art nouveau, traditional Japanese and Americana, and his work is most recognized for its saturated colours and the way tattoos flow on different body types. He and apprentice Angela Daniels are handling client demand for the time being, but Archive is looking for another artist to add to the team. Tattoos start at $80, with larger projects priced between $100 and $160 an hour.

Look for: A new line of T-shirts and posters incorporating Glantz’s original designs.

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm.
