Beau & Bauble

BEAU & BAUBLE 3092 Dundas West, 416-904-6136, thebeauandbauble.com

Kate Elia had a different, much younger demographic in mind when she opened Beau & Bauble in the Junction. The boutique focused on the neighbourhood’s tweens and teens, with a pretty selection of gifts, clothing and accessories. As she’s gotten to know her shoppers, though, that mix has matured and now includes a growing womenswear collection and lots of standout jewellery from local labels like Biko and Niki & Lola.

Kids’ stuff is still in stock, including Lumpy Bunny plush figures fashioned from mismatched fabrics, DIY friendship bracelet kits and tutus in every pastel shade of tulle. Elia also has a thing for Mexicana and sells tin bleeding-heart ornaments and Day of the Dead swag.

Beau & Bauble picks: Elia calls her taste in fall jewellery “witchy” and gravitates toward pieces like Jan Michaels’s snake brooch, $84 a lot of her clothing is by Nümph, including an animal-spot and grey cardigan, $75 a neon skull cross is covered in sparkles, $35.

Look for: New arrivals from French Connection’s boutique collection.

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 11 am to 6:30 pm, Sunday 11 am to 5 pm.
