1. THE COMMUTER BIKE
Globe Vienna 1
“Our choice is the Globe Vienna 1,” says Urbane Cyclist’s Marty Vanderhoek. “It’s available in four sizes, in men’s or women’s frames, so fitting shouldn’t be a problem for anyone. 2. THE ROAD BIKE
Cervelo RS
Selecting a road bike is a serious financial commitment, so the team at Cervelo is suggesting the RS from their Squoval line, with its higher handlebar position. It’s raced the Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Spain. so it should work for the streets of Toronto. $4,000. Duke’s Cycle, 452 Richmond West. 416-504-6138, cervelo.com.

Ciao, bella! We were smitten with the Abici when it launched at Curbside a few years ago, and it’s still our pick for most dapper ride in town. The collection’s peacocky colour palette and signature clean-but-curvy fenders and chain casing are clearly Italian and classically modern. $949.99, Curbside Cycle.
