Bonus style tips

My inbox filled up with so much fashion and design news this week, we ran out of room to tell you about it all in print. Here are ten bonus tips to keep you in the Toronto style loop.

1. Grab the kiddies and head to Yonge-Dundas Square today where Project Runway Canada alumnus Jessica Biffi hosts two Gymboree back-to-school fashion shows at 10 am and 11 am.

2. Limber up at this weekend’s Yoga Festival Toronto, August 21 to 23 at the National Ballet School. Day passes for classes and seminars range from $115 to $328.

3. The Gardiner Museum closes two ceramic shows this weekend. Taiwanese Crafts, featuring the work of 13 indigenous tribes and another exhibition spotlighting abstract potter George Ohr are on display until August 23.

4. The Portobello East fashion and art market is back at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District next Sunday, August 30 between 12 pm and 6 pm. $5 admission lets you browse clothing, accessory and crafts by local and independent designers.

5. Mark September 10 on your calendar. That’s when Balisi’s third annual Killer Style for a Killer Cause fundraiser supporting Ovarian Cancer Canada packs Revival with philanthropic shoeaholics. Tickets are $35 at any of Balisi’s three Toronto boutiques.

6. Also on the footwear front, the Queen and John Fluevog store has just unpacked its first fall delivery. Check out the new versions of the Executor shoe and boot accented with embossed leather.

7. Drysdale & Co.’s shopping site is live with a great selection of gift buys, stationary and other style finds.

8. Toronto’s Mackenzie Yeates was just chosen by Holt Renfrew as one of three winners in its Contemporary Correspondant Search. Look for her columns on the Holts Contemporary site starting in mid-September.

9. Get ready for tomorrow’s Green Issue with a new eco buy from Grassroots. Pick from stainless steel food containers, bamboo kitchen utensils packed in pouches made from recycled plastic bags and a collection of colourful, post consumer waste planners and agendas.

10. Pre-fall arrivals at Covet + Crave include men’s William Rast denim and Joe’s Jeans for women. Summer inventory is still up to 50 per cent off if you’re not ready to think about cozy clothing yet.[rssbreak]
