I admit to knowing very little about boobs. I am not a straight man with a stack of well-studied Playboys under my bed or a gay who periodically lunges for a grab at a girlfriend’s breasts across the sofa just because I can. I know bras are meant to holster pairs in various pushed up and separated states, but I always find the selection at stores like Change staggering.
The Scandinavian company over-achieves in the sizing department, offering bands from 30 to 44 and cups A to J. Change believes in the different-bras-for-different-purposes principle, and can express-fit you on a lunch break or slip you into every padded, lacy or sporty option in store if you’ve got more time.
“If you’re in an accident, you should have matching panties,” says store manager Lisa Bernstein, and Change stocks pairs in thong, hipster, bikini and granny styles. Bathing suits round out the store’s stock, with separately priced tops and bottoms guaranteeing another expert fit.
Change picks: For Valentine’s Day Change has packaged a sheer argyle thong in a heart-shaped box, $16 the junior Chic line includes a lightly padded option with heart-embossed straps, $38 snowbirds can pack a floral tankini top for their trip south, $42.
Look for: If synthetics aren’t your thing (though all items come with a cotton gusset), try on Change’s cotton/Lycra shorts two-pack.
