Designer Profile: Laschuks printstake root

Manor12 designer Julie Laschuk springs into action, digitally manipulating branch, seed and leaf patterns in her terrific textiles

[rssbreak]

SIGNATURE PRODUCT There’s nothing new about botanicals in home decor, but what makes Manor12 designer Julie Laschuk’s hand-printed work so fresh is her digital manipulation of branch, seed and leaf patterns. The Harbourfront Centre resident uses her pixelated technique on free-hanging wall scrolls, 8-foot lengths of printed paper perfect for paste-averse home outfitters.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY Laschuk keeps it simple, balanced and detailed. Her natural prints also make their way onto embroidered and intercut wool pillows, reupholstered vintage furniture, paper lampshades and delicate silkscreened linen napkins and table runners.

NEW WORKS A new line of scrolls oriented for horizontal hanging is in the works, along with a collection of cushions and throws for kids.

WHERE TO BUY IT Wall scrolls are $265 to $485 through manor12.com. Laschuks’s work is also available at Distill (55 Mill, building 47, 416-304-0033) and Hollace Cluny (1070 Yonge, 416-968-7894). manor12.com
