EQ3 3-51 Hanna, 416-533-9090, eq3.com

With all the condos popping up in Liberty Village, it’s surprising that it took this long for another furniture store to open up in the ‘hood. Stylish things come to those who wait, though, in the form of EQ3’s airy two-storey west-end outpost (the company’s other Toronto location is at the corner of King and Sherbourne), which also has a shop-in-shop featuring Finnish print favourite Marimekko.

The special department offers bolts of poppy and polka dot motif textiles, teapots and other pieces that can add a decor punch to any neutral space. They’re the perfect, playful counterpoint to EQ3’s own classic made-in-Canada pieces, including new additions like the handsome Tate dining chair or the Scout coffee table that’s packed with pack-rat-friendly drawers and compartments.

EQ3 picks: Create seating surfaces big and small with a series of hexagon stools, starting at $179 the Tiller rug has an oversized knit texture, $599.99 for maximum Marimekko impact, recline in one of the line’s upholstered chaises, $899.

Look for: More high-end designer pieces from the likes of Herman Miller, Vitra and Alessi in the EQ3+ collection.

Hours: Monday to Friday 10 am to 8 pm, Saturday 10 am to 7 pm, Sunday 11 am to 6 pm.3
