Expert shopper tips help you grab quality goods at better-than-fair prices.

Super saver tip: “Chat with sales staff – they’re a great source of information. At one jewellery store, they told me that I should come back in a week because they’d be putting jewellery that normally goes for $100 into the $10 bin! Now, that’s a sweet deal.”

Best bargain ever: “My Michael Kors down jacket from Tom’s Place (marked down from $700 to $350). I spent weeks looking at different coats, ranging from vintage ones in Kensington to parkas at Aritzia and Holts. One day I walked into Tom’s, and they told me about their sale at the Miles Nadal JCC (750 Spadina), where designer coats are at least 50 per cent off.”

Sale of the year: “Holt Renfrew’s (50 Bloor West, 416-960-2909, and others, holtrenfrew.com) Now Or Never sale, where high-end items go for up to 70 per cent off. I got a Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater for $100.”
