Fawn

Fawn, 967 Queen West, unit 121, 647-344-4703 Rating: NNNNN

Kasha Bilobram cut her clothing teeth as right-hand gal to Pho Pa’s Alexia Lewis, expertly managing the shop’s Queen West and Danforth outposts. Now she’s going it alone with her own Fawn boutique, nestled under the Chocolate Factory lofts, where vintage and modern designer buys breezily mix.

Lots of shops claim to mimic a shoppers’ closet when they merchandize their lines, but Fawn actually hits that mark. Hipster chicks, Trinity Bellwoods scholastics and other west-end creative women will easily integrate Morphine Generation ‘s cowl-neck wrap sweater, Shelly Steffee ‘s metallic mesh poncho or Anzelino and Florence ‘s cotton bat-wing top into their wardrobes.

Bilobram hits all of fall’s trends with refined classics in oversized plaids, neutral mixes and burnished fabrics. A retro corner is stocked with blasts of primary-coloured frocks and tunics. Vintage pumps in tarnished silver faux snakeskin and collaged leather clutches sit below industrial racks and on rusty, reclaimed theatre seats.

Fawn picks : Sophie’s style choice this season is between skinny denim like Kova & T ‘s zip-cuff style or super-wide legs à la Genetic Denim ‘s trouser jeans, $295 Full Circle ‘s cropped coat comes in black-and-grey tartan, $295 walk on the fashion fringe with a pair of emerald-green suede boots, $85.

Look for : Pockets of well-edited vintage jewellery, including big bangles and chain link chokers.

Hours : Monday to Wednesday and Saturday noon to 7 pm, Thursday and Friday noon to 8 pm, Sunday noon to 6 pm.
