FINN 1 Yorkville 416-961-0101 www.finnboutique.com Rating: NNNNN
Yorkville womenswear and home decor boutique Finn's fishy name is the result of owner Amalie Bruun's Finnish heritage. Its Nordic, white-washed look creates a neutral background to show off constantly changing tastes. The eclectic merchandise mix (flirty Tocca dresses, hyper patterned Missoni throws, gilt pop CJ O'Neill teacups) gives the shop a breezy cool that satisfies the 'hood's fancy-pants shoppers but still keeps things effortlessly street.
Spring buys budding on Finn's racks (and laid out on for-sale, vintage-furniture store fixtures) are refreshingly neutral with flashes of ochre, turquoise and burnished metallics. Painter-perfect smocks, fitted vests and slouchy ginger cashmere sweaters love to be lightly layered.
To guarantee your pad looks equally unshabby-chic, pick up a Warhol-inspired Designed by Pomona collage-style pillow ($140) and squat mid-century wine goblets ($10).
Finn picks: Tocca's black and white halter dress features eyelet embroidery, $215; a Jessie Kamm robe-style wrap dress is printed with wispy feathers, $690; take a seat on a graphic black and white Missoni tuffet, starting at $325.
Look for: Discounts of 50 per cent on a few fall leftovers, if you can momentarily avert your attention from frothy spring buys.
Hours: Monday to Friday 11 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday noon to 5 pm.
