Five fall fashion events to check out this week

National Bridal Show

Now that wedding season is over, start planning your own nuptials with help from the National Bridal Show’s fall show. The three-day event takes place September 30 to October 2 at the International Centre (6900 Airport Road). Inside, enjoy fashion shows, a bridal gown sale and the chance to browse hundreds of wedding vendors, from florists to cake decorators, event designers and more. In an effort to encourage more men to attend the National Bridal Show, grooms receive free admission on Friday night. Tickets are $12 online in advance and $15 at the door. See listing for details.

Super Wonder Fashion Wars #3

Forget what’s happening on the runways in Paris and turn your attention to the catwalk at Super Wonder Gallery (876 Bloor West) for Fashion Wars #3 on September 30. Six local designers battle it out in a conceptual fashion competition, where the wilder the designs, the better. Reigning champion Allie Wood defends her title before a panel of judges. Stay late for an after-show dance party with DJ Stacie Ant. Tickets are $15 at the door. See listing for details.

Pink House Party

Enjoy a stylish afternoon at Yorkville’s Jeanne Lottie Shop (32 Scollard) in support of the Breast Cancer Research Program at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre on October 1. From 12 to 4 pm, watch a fashion show and bid on items in a silent auction. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online in advance or at the door. See listing for details.

Shine On!

Dig out your 1920s best for a Gatsby themed party in support of Project Sunshine, a non-profit that provides free educational, recreational and social programs for kids facing medical challenges. On October 1 at the Burroughes Building (639 Queen West), indulge in food and drink, a candy bar, silent auction, DJ and dancing at the sixth annual Shine On! Gatsby-inspired cocktail attire is encouraged. Tickets are $95 to $145 and can be purchased online in advance. See listing for details.

Toronto Vintage Clothing Show

The city’s largest sale of vintage clothing, shoes, bags and accessories takes over the Heritage Court building at Exhibition Place (100 Princes’ Boulevard) on October 1 and 2. Comb through hundreds of clothing racks for unique retro pieces that range from lougewear to Chanel. Cash-only admission is $10 and kids 12 and under enter for free, See listing for details.
