Fresh local flowers

I hate spring. Every year come April, I’m a sniffling red-eyed mess of mucus and misery thanks to my severe hay fever. It should be peak pollen season by now, but this lingering crappy weather has stifled all signs of plant life. But even I am itching to see Mother Nature bless us with some colours other than grey and brown.

Cue the perfectly timed return of the Toronto Flower Market. Buy affordable blooms in fresh-cut or potted varieties from local growers and florists. Check out market faves Sweet Gale Gardens and Pioneer Flower Farms for a last-minute Mother’s Day bouquet.

The market runs once a month through October and opens Saturday (May 10) from 10 am to 3 pm. 1056 Queen West. torontoflowermarket.ca.
