GreenShag

GREENSHAG 401 Richmond West, suite 215 416-830-0156 www.greenshag.ca Rating: NNNNN

A good deal is irresistible to the dandy and dashing of the male species, too, so it’s no surprise that GreenShag Clothier lures fashion-conscious fellas with its custom shirt and cufflink combos. Vancouver transplant and former style writer Victoria McPhedran moved her four-year-old business into the 401 Richmond building 12 months ago and has quickly grabbed the attention of guys on the hunt for classic shirting cut from colourful patterned cloth.

Customers pick from 250 different fabric options, ranging from candy-cane stripes in a rainbow of cheery hues to geometric cottons sourced from Switzerland, Italy and the UK. McPhedran guides them through custom collar, cuff and pocket options and selects a complementary pair of cufflinks, and it’s all ready for pickup in two to four weeks.

The stainless steel cufflinks incorporate pixilated polka dots, cropped dollar bills or iconic phallic skyscrapers (the CN Tower, Empire State Building, Big Ben) in their enamel faces.

GreenShag picks: GreenShag’s flower logo, inspired by the tiles on McPhedran’s kitchen floor, pops up on a pair of casual links, $80 cottons Ts are printed with the company’s “Everyone needs a Shag” slogan, $40 bespoke shirt and cufflink sets start at $240.

Look for: A new ready-to-wear line launching this fall for antsy dudes who just can’t wait for their new GreenShag piece.

Hours: Monday to Friday 10 am to 5 pm. By appointment for bespoke orders and fittings.
