A highly anticipated mixed-use development in Toronto’s fashion district celebrated its grand opening on Friday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at The Well this morning to kick off its holiday programming. Joined at the event were dignitaries, community groups, project team members, along with The Well’s retail, office and residential tenants
The Well is a mixed-use building that offers new residential housing, retail and office space that spreads across 7.67 acres.
Now Toronto spoke to Jonathan Gitlin, president and CEO of RioCan REIT, who said, “Today’s event was all about the community and it was about delivering The Well finally to the community that surrounds it and it’s been a lot of work and it was also to show an appreciation for all of those people who worked so hard to make this beautiful development a reality.”

Activities the public can enjoy during the holiday season include:
- The Rink – complimentary community skating.
- NORDIC by BarChef – cool yurt for people to enjoy a cocktail.
- Veuve Clicquot Champagne Lounge – kick back and sip some champagne.
- Live Performances – sing and dance along to live entertainment.
- Blacket Check Hut – feeling chilly? Grab a blanket for you and/or your dog plus pup-cups served by Gay Lea and all-natural biscuits.
- Stardust Bridge – Enjoy a visual, interactive installation at The Well’s Grand Bridge
“So, it’s not just an apartment building or an office tower or a retail complex it really is just a mix of wonderful uses that I think all of which are very much needed in the City of Toronto. So, I think it will serve as a wonderful place for people to gather not just in the King West community but really the whole City of Toronto for many years to come,” Gitlin said to Now Toronto.
Gitlin also mentioned there will be a variety of retailers opening their doors to the public that will consist of both local and national shops and incredible food that the neighbourhood can expect and enjoy.
The Well is located at 486 Front St. W. and for more information you can view here.
