Party a go-go

Having friends over for a party can be a real chore. Literally. You spend days cleaning up the apartment and, once the gang has trashed the joint, you have to do it all over again.[rssbreak]

Instead, bring the party to you by renting OddFellows‘ (936 Queen West, at Shaw, 416-534-5244) Winnebago. For 300 bucks and gas, the OddFellas will park their vintage RV in front of your house. It comes equipped with a fun-fur couch, a working fireplace and vinyl-spinning record player so that you and a dozen friends can make like true Trailer Park trash.

You can also rent the ‘bago when it’s parked out back of the resto, for $100 a night plus booze and food. Chef Matty Matheson promises to keep the posse stuffed with perogies well into the night.

Or if you really want to make a splash, throw a dinner party in the Drake‘s exclusive Room 222 (1150 Queen West, at Beaconsfield, 416-531-5042, pictured above). Adjacent to the hotel’s year-round rooftop deck, the private dining room can hold up to two dozen very privileged revellers.

The cash-strapped can take over the back room of the Cameron House (408 Queen West, at Cameron, 416-703-0811) for free early in the evening as long as you can guarantee a crowd that likes to buy drinks.

The Rivoli (332 Queen West, at Spadina, 416-596-1908) offers a similar deal in its upstairs pool hall.

“It’s a big room,” says the Riv’s convivial Stephen Hobson. “Everybody gets different-coloured drink tickets so we can host four or five parties at the same time.”
