A look at some of the highlights of Radiant Dark, an exhibit of new Canadian design.
Dirty Dishes rugs by Bev Hisey
Textile designer Bev Hisey creates a series of circular rugs that resemble magnified viruses and bacteria in petrie dishes. Colourful strains of influenza, SARS, anthrax and botulism all made the cut.
Stag quilt by Grant Heaps
Grant Heap's 10 foot by 15 foot Stag quilt was originally a 2-inch-square cross stitch pattern. It took 20,049 fabric scraps to recreate it at this scale.
Felt knot by Yvonne Ip
There's nothing precious about Yvonne Ip's giant knot made of chunky lengths of pressed wool felt. Ip encouraged the toddlers and tweens running around Radiant Dark's opening party on Wednesday night to take a seat on the crowd favourite.
