Shared Shoppe

SHARED SHOPPE 1142 Queen West weshared.com Rating: NNNNN

Do-gooding T-shirt label Shared has opened a pop-?up boutique next to the Drake Hotel for July and August. If you can’t find your fashion Webster’s, the pop-?up shop is the big tease of the retail racket, temporarily satisfying an appetite for beautifully conceptual stores and then disappearing in a stylish puff of smoke.

The Shared Shoppe’s shtick is a modern gothic space that bucks the neighbourhood’s penchant for gallery-?white storefronts. Ropes strung from the deep grey ceiling are hung with the line’s cottony-?soft crew-necks, tunics and tanks.

Exclusive merch includes designer Ts featuring the artwork of musicians Justin Peroff and Andre Ethier as well as promoter/DJ Mikey Apples and illustrator Marcos Chin. New pieces will be unveiled throughout the summer, and 50 per cent of all proceeds go to local charities including Out of the Cold, Evergreen, Princess Margaret Hospital and the Inner City Angels.

Picks: Shared founder Carlo Colacci and designer Joyce Lo’s special-edition design features a very Ralph Lauren-?looking polo player silhouette fighting off a Lacoste gator doppelgänger, $40 a woman’s boyfriend T-?shirt is amply oversized, $52 boys can buy a wardrobe of basic V-?necks in light, well-?worn colours, $45 each.

Look for: The boutique’s opening party Wednesday (July 9) from 6 to 9 pm.

Hours: Wednesday and Thursday noon to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 10 pm, Sunday noon to 6 pm.
