Michael Mercanti‘s Speech jewellery line is the antithesis of precious, prissy baubles. The Toronto designer still incorporates fine materials into his necklaces, chains and brooches (in the case of this Sailor pin, a sterling silver anchor and a black tourmaline stone), but he takes the look downtown with layers of links, charms and beads. “Speech was born in a dark dungeon on Queen West,” says Mercanti.
