STUDIO FRESH, 1025 Queen East, 416-850-8356, www.studiofresh.ca. Rating: NNNNN
The One of a Kind show has built a loyal customer base for its repeat vendors, especially the select group of Canadian designers who set up stands at the Direct Energy Centre twice a year to sell their wears. Connie Meyer's Studio Fresh is one of those sought-after labels, and her Leslieville boutique mixes it up with other show staples so shoppers can find a One of a Kind-style fashion fix year round.
Collections include Montrealers Eve Gravel and Veronique Miljkovitch who sews breezy sheaths out of creased, neutral and graffitied silk; Toronto's Susan Harris represents with monkey print T-shirts that hang next to everyday hats chosen from Lilliput's casual looks. Meyer also stocks Candi Factory underwear, knit silver jewellery by lissa Bjewelled and other clothing and accessory options by If, Plastik Wrap, Nude Clothes and The Barber's Daughter.
The house Studio Fresh lineup features asymmetrical styles and wrap skirts serged into sculptural shapes.
Studio Fresh picks: Meyer pairs her navy pinstripe wrap ($179 to $249 depending on the level of detail) with Veronique Miljkovitch's blue, green and yellow graffiti shell ($130) and tops it off with a denim Lillput Von Trappe hat ($110) for a head-to-toe Studio Fresh style.
Look for: 25 per cent off on the Studio Fresh line until fall pieces arrive during the third week of August.
Hours: Tuesday to Friday 11 am to 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday noon to 5 pm.
