Style essentials quiz

Ask fashion followers what they want to wear for spring and they’ll probably fire off a laundry list of colour-blocked frocks, lots of lace, and printed everything pretty quickly. But ask them about their style essentials and you’re likely to get a more pensive response.

Wardrobe staples and security blanket accessories sneak into your closet and it’s easy to miss them buried behind the buys of the moment.

Those classics are the theme for Holt Renfrew’s new marketing campaign being rolled out in stores across the country this week. The retailer asked notable Canadians from coast-to-coast to list off the ten things that form the foundation of their fashion sense. From the almost 1000 answers they received, the retailer’s visuals team is incorporating “I can’t live without…” quotes into store windows at nine locations.

We had a sneak peek at the long list of essentials and have spotlighted some standout picks here. Can you match the quote to the Canadian fashion plate? The answers are below.

1. “I can’t live without my earrings small for the morning, medium
for the afternoon, extravagantly large for the evening.”
A. Jann Arden, Musician
