Fast fashion

Toronto-based retailer Danier (danier.com) announced last week that it is partnering with Canadian-born UK-based designer Mark Fast (markfast.net) on his fall 2011 collection. Fast, known for his cobwebby knits and for championing size diversity on the catwalk, presents Danier-made leather pieces as part of his London Fashion Week show in February. The designer will also produce a capsule collection to be sold at Danier stores in the fall.

White on

Wear White for Windfall (ww4w.ca), the annual month-long fundraising initiative for Canada’s only new clothing bank, has begun, and here’s how to get involved. For every new follower H&M collects on Twitter (@hmcanada), the company donates $1 to the cause. Vasanti Cosmetics (vasanticosmetics.com) is also donating $1 for each fresh Facebook follower. And Elizabeth Grant (elizabethgrant.com) is donating 50 per cent of sales of The Socializer treatment creams until January 27.

Swap shop

Toronto has never seen as green a shopping event as this weekend’s Uber-SWAP. On Saturday (January 15) between noon and 4 pm, hundreds of shoppers and swappers meet at Queen East Presbyterian Church (947 Queen East) to trade unwanted duds and shop upcycled fashion by local designers and crafters. Tickets are $5 in advance at Nathalie-Roze & Co. (1015 Queen East) or $7 at the door.

Wedding weekend

Spring wedding season is just around the corner, and if saying “I do” is in your future, find nuptial inspiration at this weekend’s Wedding Show (January 14-16) at the Carlu (444 Yonge). On Friday (5 to 9 pm), Saturday (10 am to 6 pm) and Sunday (10 am to 5 pm), couples can check out florists’ displays, sample sweet-table treats and plan everything from invitations to the honeymoon. Tickets are $20 at the door or online at theweddingco.com.
