Style Notes for March 17 to 23

I only get to say this twice a year so pardon my enthusiasm but the Fashion Issue is coming! Our spring shopping special drops tomorrow (Thursday, March 17) and that means you get to read our preempted-in-print Style Notes column online today.

Best foot forward

To coincide with the spring fashion issue, we’re launching our first Best Foot Forward style contest tomorrow. You’ll have to pick up the paper for the full scoop and entry details but we can tell you the prize package includes over $3000 worth of gift cards and merch from sponsors including PUMA, Toy Watch, Ben Sherman, Body Blue and Balisi.

In the Haus

Skincare staple NIVEA is opening a pop up shop at 361 Queen West Friday (March 18) to mark its 100th anniversary. Stop by for a consultation, to test-try some products, get your photo snapped and enter a contest to win a $10,000 beauty experience for two. The temporary spot is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10 am to 7 pm and Sundays from noon to 5 pm until April 5.

St. Patty’s soap

Speaking of skincare, LUSH Cosmetics (312 Queen West, 416-599-5874 and others, lush.com) has released a lineup of green-themed bath and beauty products to mark St. Patrick’s Day. There’s Cynthia Sylvia Stout Shampoo, with an ingredient list that includes beer, balsamic vinegar and lemon, and a clover coloured Avobath Bath Bomb to drop in the tub on Friday afternoon after sleeping off a keg’s worth of green beers.

Eye appointment

The founders of Berlin-based eyewear outfit Mykita are coming into town for a pair of spectacular trunk shows at Josephsons (60 Bloor West, 416-964-7070, josephson.ca) on Tuesday (March 22) and Thursday (March 24). Stop by to meet Philipp Haffmans and Moritz Krueger between 11 am and 6 pm. For a little extra attention, the duo will be doing personal fitting on Thursday from 3 pm onwards.
