The markdowns at Roots’s four GTA factory outlet stores aren’t always impressive, but when stuff is priced to clear, the deals are amazing. Roots boots for $99 have major appeal. The Eglinton Power Centre outlet (1901 Eglinton East, 416-285-9300) is an easy bus ride from Kennedy and Eglinton subway staions. The 120 Orfus store (416-781-8729), near Roots’s head office, has the best selection.

Le Chateau’s trendy knock-offs get even cheaper when the Canuck retailer/manufacturer decides it’s time to clear. The $5 and $10 racks at Le Chateau’s 47 Orfus factory outlet location are legendary, making it one of the best spots on the discount strip southwest of Yorkdale shopping centre. 416-787-4214.
