fab fundraisers
If you want to buy some Canadian art but have serious budgetary restraints, now’s the time to go shopping. Four artist-run centres are holding fundraising sales featuring works donated (all or in part) by ace local artists, and the deals are delirious. Gallery 44’s (401 Richmond West, 416-979-3941) Festive 44 offers unbeatable deals, with works by the photographer members going in the $5-to-$300 range (not everything will be photo-based). All works are priced at $100 in the Red Head’s (96 Spadina, 416-504-5654) Foxy Fundraiser, which closes with a party Sunday (December 2) from noon to 5 pm. Gallery TPW’s (80 Spadina, 416-504-4242) Photorama 2001 features photographs for $50 to $100, through December 8. And Open Studio’s (468 King West, 416-504-8238) annual Artist Proof Sale and open house features original prints, $50 to $300, December 7 from 6 to 10 pm.
