Fashion and knapsacks have a tricky relationship. Almost every attempt to reinvent them as a stylish accessory has fallen flat, the ultimate faddy failure being those uselessly teensy versions that stole the bag market for a microsecond in the mid-90s. There is hope for the format, though. Witness Three Thirds’ Spacematic backpack, a handsome example in dapper grey wool by Toronto-based Central Saint Martins grad Karen Wong. It’s as practical as it is good-looking, with a padded laptop compartment and cushy shoulder straps. $199, A2Zane, 1040 Queen West, 416-803-7754, a2zane.com.
