In its early days, the University of Toronto Bookstore (214 College, 416-640-7900, uoftbookstore.com) discouraged non-students from shopping its stacks. Now anyone craving an academic read can browse the impressive College and St. George space. The 1909 building was once home to the Toronto Reference Library, which headed north to equally architecture-ific Raymond Moriyama-designed digs at Yonge and Bloor in 1977. U of T moved in during the 1985 school year and filled the 2.5 kilometres of oak shelves with almost as many books as are on your fall term reading list.
