Whatever Lola Wants

WHATEVER LOLA WANTS 1625 Bayview, 647-350-1833

“Welcome to Bayview” is a greeting Rhonda Fruitman has heard a lot since opening her accessories boutique on the close-knit north Toronto strip just over one month ago. The neighbourhood has instantly responded to her mix of jewellery, housewares and gifts, all proudly wearing made-in-Canada labels.

With a background representing jewellery lines like the Worn Beadies collection of glass heart pendants, Fruitman’s baubles are the star of her store. Worn Beadies charm bracelets, Bijou by Brigid‘s sterling silver and semi-precious stone pieces and Shosh Designs‘ “baby bling” are complemented by Kathleen Wilkinson‘s hand-knit shawls and ponchos and leather bags by Matteo Mio.

Art prints, decor knick-knacks incorporating vintage farm equipment, Wild Prairie soaps and a collection of greeting cards inspired by that cheeky British sense of humour all add to the store’s eclectic mix.

Whatever Lola Wants picks: Sling on a saddle-style Matteo Mio bag, $140 Monster Factory‘s Todd character watches over the store wearing a pair of plush oversized headphones, $38 Worn Beadies handmade glass pendants range from $75 to $200.

Look for: Tonight’s (Thursday, October 2) open house launch party. Drop in between 6 and 9 pm to add your welcome to the Bayview chorus.

Hours: Monday to Saturday 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday noon to 5 pm.
