Bar Hop opens on the Danforth

The Only, The Wren and Louis Cifer now have a little more competition for beer drinkin’ dollars on the Danforth strip. Bar Hop, widely known as one of the city’s finest beer bars, has opened a third location in Greektown. It’s an unusual choice for a joint synonymous with downtown, but not totally out of Left Field (ha), considering the plethora of cocktail bars and indie breweries that have recently begun on the city’s east end.

Bar Hop 3, as they’re affectionately calling it, opened last night at 681 Danforth (at Pape), with $5 Ontario pint specials on offer. Keen-eyed east-end beer aficionados will recognize that address as the former home of the Court Jester Pub, which shut down in January after the death of the pub’s co-owner.

Details about the food program haven’t been unveiled yet, but we’re willing to bet the on-site kitchen that used to be CJ’s Deli will be put to good use.
