Colette Harmon

COLETTE HARMON, 184 Davenport, 647-438-4181, www.coletteharmon.com Rating: NNNNN

Colette Harmon‘s logo features a silhouette of the jewellery designer in profile sporting her signature pewter-disc-and-purple-Murano-glass-bead choker. Harmon’s shaved head makes her a perfect model for the collection of maximal necklaces, earrings, bracelets and capelets woven together using antiqued metals and heirloom-look beads.

Her midtown shop on Davenport at Avenue Road shares the neighbourhood with high-end interior design firm storefronts and swanky celeb-spotting restaurants. This will be her first film festival season in the Yorkville ‘hood, and her boutique’s countertop displays of opalescent crystal feather brooches and wall-mounted judys in chain mail hip belts are sure to draw sparkle-hungry stars.

Local shoppers don’t mind spending to score unique baubles, but vintage look earrings and single-strand necklaces are priced painlessly to lure those on a budget into Harmon’s camp of costume jewellery connoisseurs.

Harmon’s picks: A whimsical jet bead necklace features a flock of orange and turquoise butterflies that flutter around the wearer’s neck, $850 berry-red crystals, quartz and lucite roses mingle on a chunky charm bracelet, $350 Harmon’s crocheted black capelet is a coveted collector’s piece, $3,500.

Look for: Turquoise, red and olive-coloured pieces to punch up fall’s back-to-black fashion mood.
