Northwood hosting pop-up dinner and birthday bash

After opening on the fringes of Christie Pits in 2013, Northwood went from a local cafe/bar beloved by freelancers and the date-night crowd alike to the proud papa of a Dundas West spinoff (Northern Belle) and a lifestyle-oriented boutique (Northwood General). If you’ve ever drowned your sorrows or wooed a Tinder date in the bar’s dim candlelit glow, now’s the time to show a little appreciation by popping by early next week during the bar’s birthday festivities.

Things kick off with a pop-up dinner on Sunday (March 6), hosted by Tallis Voakes of Providore Catering (formerly the executive chef at Small Town Food Co.) It’s an a la carte event, so you can pop in and sample a few plates – in this case, chorizo scotch eggs, pork belly souvlaki, beet-cured trout and smoked labneh.

Their birthday bash happens in earnest the following evening (Monday, March 7). Owner Richard Pope promises drink specials from Beau’s and Woodhouse and tunes from DJ Harold Uyguanco, plus a sneak peek at some spring and summer cocktails.
