Yours, Mine And Ours (D: Raja Gosnell, 90 min)
After seeing remakes of The Fog, The Amityville Horror, The Longest Yard and The Bad News Bears do mediocre biz at the box office, the producers of Yours, Mine And Ours must be trembling in their collective pants.
Then again, maybe this modern take on the 1968 Lucille Ball-Henry Fonda comedy about one helluva blended family will work. Lord knows, family entertainment – of whatever quality – does well.
Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo play the parents. But what’s refreshing this time around is that the kids are an ethnically diverse bunch. Hmmm … Sensitive colour-blind casting? Or a cynical marketing move to entice different demographics? We’ll soon find out.
Film opens Friday (November 25). Screened after press time – see review online November 25 at www.nowtoronto.com/film.
