NEW YEAR’S EVE Start early when a 13-hour marathon of What Not To Wear offers fashion advice for those going out on the town (from 2 pm on TLC), and join Dr. Phil as he gets his studio audience drunk (5 pm on CTV). (3:15 am on Bravo). Hiphop heads and stoners can recite their favourite lines along with scenery-chewing Al Pacino in Scarface (midnight on Bravo). Count down the minutes to midnight with New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly (10 pm on NBC) with guests Conan O’Brien , Donald Trump and Duran Duran, and there’s always Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2005 (10 pm on ABC) with septuagenarian substitute host Regis Philbin and musical acts Ashlee Simpson , Billy Idol and Earth, Wind and Fire . You probably want to go local, but City’s 20th Annual New Year’s Eve Bash (11 pm), live from Nathan Phillips Square, featuring Gord Martineau , crooner Matt Dusk and paleontological pop stars Glass Tiger , is only for the teetotalers and the desperate.
