Hip-hop trio Above Top Secret have won this year’s SoundClash Music Award. The group – which comprises Ayo Leilani, Tee Fergus and Sunsun – claimed $5,000 and a spot at the Hot & Spicy Food Festival on September 4.
Taking second place was singer/songwriter Ronley Teper and her
Lipliners band, who snagged $3,000. Seventeen-year-old rapper Clairmont the Second walked away with third place and $2,000, while synth-pop musician Digits and indie band L CON received $500 each.
The live music competition, which took place on July 11, is organized by Harbourfront Centre. And if you can’t wait until September to see Above Top Secret, they headline new-music showcase The Hustle at the Piston (937 Bloor West) on Thursday (July 30), with Obuxum, Kirsch and DJ Ken L Jones.
