AC/DC’s Toronto concert is cancelled, but its PWR/UP pop-up is still happening

The free two-day event at Steam Whistle will feature Toronto-only merch, tour props, photo ops and AC/DC-themed food and drinks.

The AC/DC PWR/UP Pop Up is still coming to Steam Whistle Brewing Sept. 15 and 16, despite the cancellation of the band’s Rogers Stadium concert.

What to know

  • AC/DC’s Toronto concert is cancelled, but its PWR/UP pop-up is still going ahead Sept. 15–16.
  • The free Steam Whistle event will feature Toronto-exclusive merch, tour props and photo opportunities.
  • Fans can also see an Angus Young stage-worn schoolboy uniform and AC/DC-themed displays.

AC/DC fans won’t get a chance to see the legendary rock band live next week after Rogers Stadium was partially damaged during the Sept. 2 storm, but organiser (and Canadian) Norman Perry of Perryscope Productions is going ahead with the two-day AC/DC PWR/UP Pop Up at Steam Whistle Brewing Sept. 15-16.

And yes, fans can buy an exclusive “Toronto” t-shirt — even though it’s not a tour-stop-that-never-was shirt — as well snap pics with various AC/DC displays, and hang with like-music-ed fans of the Rock Hall of Fame inductees who have given us such classics as “Back in Black,” “Highway To Hell,” “Thunderstruck” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

Open from noon to 9 p.m., fans of the Australian rock legends can pose next to a Hells Bells bell, “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)” cannon or a giant lightning bolt logo, and see one of guitarist Angus Young’s worn-on-stage schoolboy uniforms.

The pop-up will feature exclusive merchandise and collectibles, including premium apparel, accessories, posters, limited-edition items and pieces created specifically for the Toronto stop. There will also be an AC/DC-themed food and drink menu.

Fans can pick up the Toronto event shirt and poster that would have been available at the stadium.

A mock stage environment will offer photo opportunities with a replica Angus Young guitar, along with custom visuals and interactive experiences.

While there will no longer be a separate Fan Preview Night, all sign-ups will be honoured on either day. The first 500 fans through the door each day will also receive a free AC/DC PWR/UP pop-up gift bag.

AC/DC’s PWR/UP Tour is winding down, with just a few dates remaining: Montreal on Sept. 12, Winnipeg on Sept. 20, East Rutherford, N.J., on Sept. 25, and Philadelphia on Sept. 29. Pop-ups have accompanied the tour at every stop.

The PWR/UP World Tour takes its name from AC/DC’s 2020 album, which reached No. 1 in 21 countries. It began with the band’s long-awaited return to the stage at Power Trip in California in 2023 and has since sold out stadiums across four continents.
