There’s an incandescent exuberance to the Constantines’ performances that comes blasting through on Shine A Light, but this time it’s not simply a matter of shouting and flailing away. Their songs are more thoughtfully arranged and benefit from a more refined sense of dynamics, tension and mood variation. This is the sound of a great band finding its voice.
