NXNE is about more than just live music. Take NXPO, a three-day arts lifestyle exhibition featuring, among other things, a fabulously colourful poster show by talented graphic artists working in music and film. The Poster Show is on all weekend long at the Hyatt Regency (370 King West).

And don’t forget about the annual NXNE conference, also happening at the Hyatt unless otherwise stated. Geared primarily toward bands looking for a break, it includes seminars on artist management (June 20, 11:30 am, Rivoli), media training (June 19, 1 pm) and breaking into the UK market (June 19, noon), to name a few.
Not in a band? No biggie. The conference also features the always popular celebrity interviews. This year, Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA (June 20, 1 pm) discusses the legendary New York hip-hop group’s rise to fame with American hip-hop historian and former graffiti artist Fab 5 Freddy, and legendary punk manager Danny Fields (June 20, 4 pm), in conversation with local author/musician Warren Kinsella, er, fields questions about what it was like managing bands like the MC5, the Stooges and the Ramones in pre-Twitter days.
