It’s odd that a band with Fall Out Boy’s sheer bankability, arena-sized tours and super-ultra-cute bass players haven’t thought to release a live album before now. They’re one of mainstream pop’s most genuinely likeable bands. Whatever the reason (although I’m guessing it’s to fill the time between studio albums), Live is also a reminder that they’re really fun onstage – especially singer Patrick Stump, who manages to carry most of the show.
The only surprise on the set list is an oddly placed, passable studio cover of Beat It, featuring John Mayer, halfway through. But the accompanying DVD generously replays the entire show plus extra footage, most of the band’s music videos and a behind-the-scenes feature.
