FRANK LONDON’S KLEZMER BRASS ALLSTARS

Rating: NNNN

Carnival Conspiracy is a riotous party thrown by the slightly demented Frank London, where you’re destined to laugh, smile and dance like you’ve never danced before. Sensible shoes are a must. With over 25 participants adding their personalities to the mix, it’s hard to tell if they’re all all-stars, but I couldn’t find a bum note over the course of the hour-long performance. While I’ve heard some klezmer that tended toward the sombre, intense end of the spectrum, Carnival Conspiracy is a joyous shout-out to the wonders of life from beginning to end. You may come away with a brighter outlook from even a few minutes with this album, though I doubt it’ll cure ulcers and STDs, as London claims in the liner notes.
