The Tragically Hip

With ecstatic reports already coming in from the beloved Kingston rockers’ West Coast tour dates, anticipation is growing for the Tragically Hip‘s final tour dates here in Toronto. We’re getting three shows, more than any other city, on August 10, 12 and 14 at the Air Canada Centre, in support of new album Man Machine Poem. And it could be the last chance to see Gord Downie in all his glory – the frontman was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year. If you couldn’t snag (or afford) a ticket, you can take in a screening of the band’s final Kingston show at the Horseshoe (370 Queen West) on August 20 at 8 pm. Additionally, pre-concert parties take place ahead of each ACC show at the Firkin on Harbour (10 Yonge), with all proceeds going to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook Hospital. thehip.com.

Kanye West

August closes out with two Yeezus shows, August 30 and 31, in support of acclaimed new album The Life Of Pablo. The rapper in possession of 22 Grammys was here as recently as 2015, but only for a brief set at the Pan Am Games closing ceremony. This time you know we’ll get something closer to an over-the-top spectacle. Air Canada Centre (40 Bay), 7 pm. $29.50-$199. ticketmaster.ca.
