Indigo Girls kick off HALLer series

Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall are upping its social media game with the new series HALLer. Described as Inside The Actors Studio meets Live At The Rehearsal Hall, it brings together in conversation social media stars and touring musicians playing the historic venues (usually the day before or after their gig). Each event is shared live through Twitter, Facebook and other platforms.

The inaugural HALLer happens Wednesday (October 21) at Roy Thomson Hall, featuring the Indigo Girls (who perform there with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra the next day), host/HALLer producer Eric Alper, and “social media influencers,” all of whom have over one million followers between them.

“We’re just so thrilled that this unique experience for both the artist and the influencers, who are also fans, has been so well received by Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall,” Alper tells NOW. “We’re extremely proud and honoured to launch with the Indigo Girls. We anticipate a great exchange of ideas and insights about creating communities, collaboration, social action and the environment.”

“These Massey and Roy Thomson HALLer events are really an opportunity for artists who play on our stages to connect with like-minded people from across our community,” explains Stephen McGrath, media and artist development manager at Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall. “They get to discuss issues and topics that influence and inspire their art and in some cases they’ll even perform a song or two acoustically.

“Using social platforms allows anyone interested to watch, listen and even participate from virtually anywhere in the world, in real time. That’s what makes these extra special. This series opens the backstage door and connects audiences with artists in a meaningful way.”
