Manifesto destiny

Toronto’s third annual Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture has been under way since last night, when its film festival component kicked off at the Acacia Centre. But if you missed that, don’t sweat it, the party don’t stop till they call the cops. Tonight (Thursday, September 17), the Sound Academy hosts the Canada Pro B-Boy Championship, and on Friday (September 18), the Chapter III art exhibition happens at 52 McCaul. And that’s just the tip of the berg – for more, check themanifesto.ca. It all culminates Sunday (September 20) at the free Manifesto Main Event in Nathan Phillips Square. Speaking of which, here are some of the big names you should check for on Sunday night.

REFLECTION ETERNAL

Yes, the dynamic duo of Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek return. Expect them to showcase new sounds from Revolutions Per Minute and throw down classics from Train Of Thought.

COLIN MUNROE

The still underrated Kanye-approved North Gower, Ontario, native will likely drop his Flashing Lights cover as well as tracks off his upcoming Motown debut, Don’t Think Less Of Me.

BAJAH & THE DRY EYE CREW

Don’t miss these guys’ Sierra Leone-originated hard hip-hop funk. The K’naan collaborators bring a heavy sound designed for some serious power grinding.

SOLITAIR

Black Jays, stand up! MC/producer and Kardinal’s right hand man, Solitair, will hopefully drop some heaters from his fiery new mixtape, YYZ-T1.

Also don’t miss:

9TH WONDER
