What Toronto restaurant do you like to eat at before a show?
Last time, we ate at Nazareth (955 Bloor West). I love Ethiopian food, and the coffee is out of this world!
What club do you hit when you want to party after the gig?
Turning Point, for a number of reasons. First, Warwick is a fantastic DJ; second, he's bound to play some Ethiopian music to complement the food from before the show; third, because of the lovely crowd; and last, it's at the Gladstone Hotel, where I will be staying!
Who is your favourite Toronto artist?
Elizabeth Shepherd and her trio. She has a fresh approach to jazz, good songs and a great voice!
What do you love most about Toronto?
I would say the people and the vibrant soul/jazz/funk/Afro/Latin/hiphop/ disco scene. Great dancers, too!
What do you hate about the city?
Nothing! I have only had good times in Toronto.
Hotel of choice?
The Gladstone. Great rooms, lovely staff, relaxed atmosphere and a good bar. One of my favourite hotels anywhere.
How do you spend your day off in Toronto?
Having a lie-in, and then meeting up with friends for food and a few beers. I don't know the city that well, so I tend to let the locals choose where we go.
What was your biggest misconception about Toronto?
I knew about the good music scene, but I didn't quite realize how good it was until I actually came here.
What's the wildest time you've ever had in Toronto?
I would say the last Footprints and Milk party at Revival.
